Enriched Air Nitrox

Hawaiian Diving Adventures

EANx / Enriched Air Nitrox:
Tasty oxygen, longer bottom times, and a stylish green sticker. Welcome to the world of mixed gas diving!

When making deeper dives using air, many divers find that they reach their NDL (No Decompression Limit). You must end the dive with air left in the tank. Using oxygen-enriched air can help extend bottom time with an additional safety factor. The Nitrox diver specialty is one of the most useful and common scuba diver certifications and many liveaboard dive boats require it.

The academic portion of this course covers the physiology of Nitrox diving, the safety considerations and benefits of diving with nitrox, along with the important calculations of the best mix, dose, and maximum operating depth. Practical training teaches divers to properly analyze, notate, and log Nitrox dive cylinders. You will also learn how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40%. oxygen.

Courses must be booked over the phone. Please call 808-232-3193.

Price

2 Dives – $199; Add to any fun dive trip for only $99!
* Gratuity for the captain and crew is voluntary, but if you have a great time on your dives, it is customary to tip 10-20%.

How It Works

The Enriched Air Nitrox course is largely academic. There is an online e-Learning component that needs to be done first. Then, we go dive Nitrox! On the boat, you analyze your cylinders, find your new no-decompression limits, and your maximum operating depth.

Upon completion of all academic and in-water requirements, including the final exam, your instructor issues the Enriched Air Nitrox certification card.

Certified Enriched Air Nitrox divers can dive with Enriched Air Nitrox in environments equivalent to their training and within the recommended depth limits.

Students younger than 15 years old will be certified as Junior Enriched Air Nitrox divers. They must dive under the direct supervision of a dive professional or with a certified adult, in environments equivalent to their training, and within the recommended depth limits.

Timeline

The Enriched Air Nitrox course is two dives and can be added to any dive trip. You analyze and calculate no-deco & MOD limits during setup and surface intervals on the boat.
