Fish Identification

Hawaiian Diving Adventures

This Fish ID/Identification course helps you answer the questions that come from diving, “What was that fish we saw? You know, the one with the round fins and pointed tail?”
In this Fish ID course, you learn how to identify the different classes and species of fish through their different characteristics and anatomy. Specifically, we look at how to ID fish based on their size, colorations, behaviors, and the shape of their body, fins, and tail.
This class involves much more than simply looking up the name of a fish in a guide slate or book! Students learn the tools and skills to identify the unique species endemic to Hawaii, and learn about fish around the world. First, students learn basic fish anatomy, morphology, and their unique behaviors. Secondly, you identify fish by their phylum, class, and order. Finally, you can correctly identify the individual species.
2 Dives – $225
* Gratuity for the captain and crew is voluntary, but if you have a great time on your dives, it is customary to tip 10-20%.

All of our teaching staff are active instructors with at least two of the three scuba diving certification agencies.
