Special Considerations

  • The minimum age is 10 years old.
  • Must be Open Water certified

Sharks are Friends, Not Food

Sharks are one of the most feared animals in the world. However, they are far more threatened by us, than we are threatened by them! In fact, sharks are a critical species in the ocean and keep many other species of the ocean in check. They inhabit all parts of the ocean ecosystem and even some freshwater systems. Sharks are absolutely vital in maintaining a healthy ocean and reef environment.

How It Works

With the e-Learning, you’ll learn about different shark species, how they evolved, and what makes sharks so unique in our world.  Then, on the boat, we go out on a couple of dives to find sharks in their natural environment.

Timeline

This course can be done on any of our boat charters. We typically prefer the 11 am Coral Reef dives as they provide a more casual experience that gives us more options to look for sharks.

Shark Ecology Certification

Upon completion of all academic and open water requirements, your instructor will issue the Shark Ecology certification card.

These logged dives and certification will count to your next recognition rating of Advanced Open Water or Master Diver

What To Bring

  • All you need is a swimsuit for the first day: all of the dive gear is included!
    •  If you bring a change of clothes for after class, there are beach showers and restrooms.
  • If you already own personal gear, like mask, snorkels, or fins, bring them. You’ll be more comfortable in your own gear.
  • You can bring a towel, sunglasses & maybe a hat for the boat trips (we have a dry storage area).
  • Bring your underwater camera & its waterproof casing to get the best shots!
  • We provide drinking water, fresh pineapple & snacks, but you can also bring your own.
