Special Considerations

  • The minimum age is 12 years old.
  • Must be Open Water certified

Diver with a camera on near a shipwreck

You Don’t Need a Huge Camera, but it Helps

Underwater Photo and Video: without a picture, it never happened! Start taking better photos and videos of your dives by learning about:

  • basic camera settings
  • shooting techniques
  • lighting
  • improving your composition and framing
  • image editing basics

The core learning of this course is academic. The open water dives are designed to help you safely dive with a camera and practice your composition and framing. It also provides the knowledge and experience to properly use, clean, maintain, and safely store your underwater photo and video equipment.

Our goal is to help you flawlessly capture your amazing underwater experiences!

How It Works

The e-Learning will provide a broad overview about underwater photography and various camera systems.  Every Photo & Video instructor is also a professional or semi-professional photographer, he’ll show you how to set up your camera to take the photos you want to take.  We’ll take your photography skills from snapshots to works of art.

Timeline

This course can be done on any of our boat charters. We typically prefer the 11 am Coral Reef dives as they provide a more casual experience that gives us more time underwater to play with different camera settings and situations.

Photo & Video Certification

Upon completion of all academic and open water requirements, your instructor will issue the Photo & Video certification card.

These logged dives and certification will count to your next recognition rating of Advanced Open Water or Master Diver

What To Bring

  • All you need is a swimsuit for the first day: all of the dive gear is included!
    •  If you bring a change of clothes for after class, there are beach showers and restrooms.
  • If you already own personal gear, like mask, snorkels, or fins, bring them. You’ll be more comfortable in your own gear.
  • You can bring a towel, sunglasses & maybe a hat for the boat trips (we have a dry storage area).
  • Bring your underwater camera & its waterproof casing to get the best shots!
  • We provide drinking water, fresh pineapple & snacks, but you can also bring your own.
