Special Considerations

  • Must be a certified diver
  • You must complete a medical questionnaire and may need a doctor’s approval if you have any disqualifying conditions.
  • When scheduling your dives, allow at least 18 hours after diving before flying. This is important — you cannot fly the same day after scuba diving.
  • Courses must be booked over the phone: call now at 808-232-3193.

Time To Learn ‘How To Dive’

Where the Open Water Course is very much centered on ‘how not to kill yourself,’ the Advanced Adventurer is much more ‘How To Dive’
This program is designed for people fresh out of their Open Water Course and will provide your next four dives. We will expand your knowledge and experience by pulling pages out of our Diver Specialty Courses and teaching those skills to you. We  spend more time working on Buoyancy, Navigation, Deep Dives, Shipwreck Dives, Boat Dives, Marine Ecology, and more.

HDA’s Advanced Adventurer certification program is detailed enough that you can later apply these dives to your Specialty Dive Courses

Courses must be booked over the phone: call now at 808-232-3193.

How It Works

Advanced Adventurer is all about the diving! There is NO classroom or pool time: it is all done in the ocean. Over two days, we do four ocean dives while doing different activities, in a variety of conditions and depths. Specifically, we design the deeper dives to push your comfort zone, all under the supervision and guidance of an instructor. You must complete the online e-Learning component before the first day of diving.

Advanced Adventurer Certification

Upon completion of all academic and in-water requirements (like a basic swimming evaluation), and the final exam, your instructor issues the Advanced Adventurer certification card.

Certified Advanced Adventurers can dive with an equally- or more-qualified buddy in environments equivalent to their training, and within the recommended depth limits.

Students younger than 15 years old will be certified as a Junior Advanced Adventurer. They must dive under the direct supervision of a dive professional or with a certified adult, in environments equivalent to their training, and within the recommended depth limits.

What To Bring

  • All you need is a swimsuit for the first day: all of the dive gear is included!
    •  If you bring a change of clothes for after class, there are beach showers and restrooms.
  • If you have personal gear like mask, snorkel, or fins, bring it. You’ll be more comfortable in your own gear. We have gear for sale too www.theswimthrough.com
  • You can bring a towel, sunglasses & maybe a hat for the boat trips (we have a dry storage area).
  • Bring your underwater camera & its waterproof casing to get the best shots!
  • We provide drinking water, fresh pineapple & snacks, but you can also bring your own.

Certification Agency Options

Our instructors are active status in three different scuba training agencies.

What’s a training agency? They are the guys who actually write the text books and print certification cards. All reputable agencies fall under the umbrella of the World Recreational Scuba Training Counsel and as such, their standards are pretty much the same. In the end, scuba diving is scuba diving, and it doesn’t really matter what brand is printed on your card.

SSI Open Water certification card

$495 (includes eLearning and registration fees)

Click here to REGISTER for SSI Advanced Adventurer Certification.

SSI is our first choice for agencies. Their online platform automatically syncs across devices, has a great log book for after your course, and gives you permanent access to course materials and digital cards. Best of all, their fees are significantly lower, saving you hundreds of dollars.  A better product for less money, we like SSI.

PADI Advanced Open Water

$600 + eLearning fees (approximately $200)

Click here to REGISTER for PADI Advanced Open Water Certification

PADI’s Advanced Open Water Diver is equivalent to SSI’s Advanced Adventurer.  We can offer you a PADI course if desired.
There are two differences between the SSI course and the PADI course. PADI requires 5 dives over 3 days and charges a lot more for their digital materials.  That all, the course work is the same, the dives are the same and you learn will be the same.

Courses must be booked over the phone: call now at 808-232-3193.
